A leather
backpack makes a style statement
At first thought an leather backpack might seem to be an idea
that comes straight out of Lord of the Rings or Paris fashion
week. The image that the phrase beings to mind is either of a
little flimsy daypack or leather pouch, or an expensive ladies
fashion accessory. However, a leather backpack can also be
rugged and inexpensive enough to take on trips requiring that
you need to mix practicality with style.
It is entirely possible to pick up en expensive designer leather
backpack, but it is unlikely to be anywhere near rugged enough
for a trek through the hills – even in good weather. The fabric
itself will stand up to most things that the elements can throw
at it, but they need to be very well stitched together (as
owners of saddlebags will attest to) otherwise they will fall
apart at the first sign of wear and tear.
One of the most innovate uses for a leather backpack that is
both a real eye-catcher and an entirely appropriate gift is
where it doubles as a picnic basket. With spaces for plates,
knives, forks, and even a holster on the side for a bottle of
wine, this can make an excellent and very stylish gift for
someone you know who just loves food and the great outdoors.
For the rugged adventurer, a leather backpack can also provide
either an in character alternative to a leather briefcase or
suitcase, or a semi-casual piece of adventure luggage. Of
course, they will not be as roomy, well conceived or comfortable
over long journeys as synthetic backpacks, but they have the
advantage of style.
