Never was a product name more aptly chosen, the Magellan
RoadMate is just that, your mate on the road. Wherever you are,
and wherever you might be going, the Magellan RoadMate system is
portable enough to follow you – from your personal vehicle, to a
rental, in your own country or even abroad.
Maps can be downloaded onto the Magellan RoadMate series
systems, starting from the 100 MB memory card included on the
lower end series, right up to an amazing 10 GB of storage space
provided on the mid and high end systems in the range.
All of the units in the Magellan RoadMate range share some
common points, such as the amazing color screen, which is
tactile so that interaction with the system is as easy and
compact as possible. Then there are the friendly voice prompts,
and a special 3D view in which you can easily compare the sights
through your windshield with that inside the navigation system.
One of the key advances in technology that the Magellan RoadMate
takes full advantage of is it’s ability to track up to 12 GPS
satellites at the same time, whilst also making use of the Wide
Area Augmentation System to provide a staggering accuracy to
within 3 meters. This represents a kind of accuracy that was
only previously seen in military units.
Finally, every kind of user preference is catered for in the way
that the Magellan RoadMate can be programmed to choose routes.
From fastest to shortest, and even avoiding freeways, there is a
navigation mode to suit the needs of every driver.
