The
portable shower helps banish nasty odors
The last thing that the happy camper wants when embarking on a
backpacking holiday with their friends is to return to base to
find that there are no showers – enter the portable shower.
While a portable shower is not the kind of thing that you
necessarily want to be hauling around with you while you go out
on a long trek, but it is certainly something that you will want
to have at your disposal when you get back to the primary camp
site.
One of the principle reasons that you might not want to actually
carry the portable shower on your back is that the power source
is not especially portable. Usually it comes in the form of D
cells (about 4), or some kind of vehicular power source. The
former is heavy, the latter defeats the object of actually going
trekking in the first place.
However, if you are like most holiday camping walkers, you will
drive to a camp site, prepare a camp, and then head on out for a
days exercise. When you return, rather than queuing for a public
shower, why not stand under your very own portable shower or
shower unit.
If you are going out on a long trek, and want to stay fresh,
then submersible, non-heating portable shower units exist which
run off very few batteries, and serve as a great alternative to
washing yourself down from a stream. They make the perfect
addition to any trekkers collection of camping accessories, and,
an ideal unusual gift for the camping enthusiast.
