A guide to
touring tenting
Touring and tenting is a great pastime, and anyone who has a
suitable vehicle, a love of the outdoors and a little bit of
money put aside for a holiday and some equipment can benefit
from this unique way to see the country. What some people do not
realize is that, although tenting does require that you buy some
equipment in order to do it properly, in the long run holidays
spent under canvas is actually much cheaper than having to book
a hotel every year.
This is especially true with children, as hotel bills will tend
to creep up once a few extra bodies are added to the roster.
Tenting is an ideal change – fresh air, open air cooking, and
the freedom to pick up your pack and go wherever you want for
the day make it a great way to spend the vacation.
Of course, it is not for everyone, and those who feel that the
great outdoors has nothing to offer them need not arrange a
tenting holiday. You have to like it – after all you will be
living in a place where there are not likely to be many modern
conveniences, such as televisions or dishwashers.
This, however is part of the attraction that many people feel
towards a touring and tenting holiday. They may visit several
different camp sites, either walking or driving between them,
and really make the whole vacation into one big trek through the
countryside. As long as it is well planned, and all the required
equipment assembled – from tents to sleeping bags and cooking
apparatus, it will be a vacation to remember.
