Heating at home or on the campsite with a Coleman heater

Essentially, when you are in the market for a Coleman heater to provide you with heat for those cold evenings, the choice can go one of two ways. Either you need your Coleman heater to be portable, or you do not. It is this simple premise which will decide which one of the range is appropriate for the use to which you want to put it.

Part of the portability issue is linked to the technology which drives each Coleman heater in the range. They use a technology known as catalytic heating in which a gas is used in conjunction with some clever technology which emits heat without burning.

This means that your Coleman heater will be safe to use under canvas, as it will not cause a fire directly. Naturally, you need to always remember that it will get hot, and so a clearance will need to be left around the unit whilst it is heating – and it should never be left unattended, or active while you are sleeping.

The heaters also do not give off any poisonous gases, such as carbon monoxide, which makes each one in the Coleman heater range especially good for use in an enclosed area.

The Coleman heater range has portable units, which are modeled on a basic gas stove – and for which you will need to carry spare canisters around with you for in addition to those that you will be using for heating food. The non portable versions run off standard gas cylinders and are therefore more appropriate for use in the home.
