Best features of top-selling camp stoves

Camp stoves, like all other camping and outdoor leisure equipment come in a variety of shapes, sizes and each has features which are useful to different styles of trekking, camping or hunting and fishing adventure. Choosing from the different ranges of camp stoves is made easier if you have a basic idea of the various possibilities and what they can offer to you, in the adventure upon which you are about to embark, before you start to look at all the various product ranges.

In the past, camp stoves were a very much different affair – existing in two basic forms, solid fuel and liquid fuel. Each one had to be lit with a (waterproof) match, and while the canisters of liquid fuels such as propane and butane might have been heavier and bulkier than the fire-lighter like blocks of hexamine which fueled the basic solid fuel stove, but they were always easier to light and keep lit.

These days, the technology behind camp stoves has improved to the point where ultralight versions are the norm, and leaky valves have been replaced by canisters which can re-seal when not in use. As a general rule, anything that you can do to reduce reliance on mechanical or electrical mechanisms is to be applauded.

Which is what makes the most modern of all, the alcohol fueled camp stoves so popular. All that they are is a little tin upon which you put your cooking pot, and a small alcohol burner in the bottom. The sides of the tin serve to protect against wind, and the corridor nature provides a fearsome amount of rising heat.
