What to look
for when buying family tents
There is nothing like a holiday under canvas for a family.
Plenty of space for the kids to run around in, many outdoor
activities for them to participate in, and all in the healthy
fresh air. While many different kinds of family tents exist,
there are some broad guidelines which need to be examined when
trying to choose one. Not all family tents are created equal,
and the choice of style, comfort, and features will make the
difference between a family vacation and a nightmare.
For example, always make sure that you choose a tent that is big
enough. Many family tents are simply sleeping areas under
canvas. Buying a 4 person tent is simply not as good as buying a
real family tent. The reason is that most 4 person tents are
designed to be taken out onto the hills in backpacks, and
therefore need to be as small and light as possible.
Family tents, on the other hand, are designed to be put up at
the start of the holiday, and taken down at the end, with no
walking in between. So, besides the sleeping areas, they also
tend to have a covered area where the family members can play,
in the event that the weather is not quite as good as
advertised.
Also, it is important to remember that buying a family tent is
an investment. So many so-called family tents are just not tough
enough to put up with the trials that children an pets can put
them through.
