Cooking on an
outdoor grill
There is nothing quite like the taste of food cooked in the open
air on an outdoor grill. There are, however, different kinds of
outdoor grill and each one will result in food which tastes
slightly different. Whether or not you like the taste of food
cooked on a particular kind of grilling system will depend on
who you are, and what makes your taste buds happy.
Firstly, for those who like their food with that burning,
charcoal taste, an outdoor grill designed to hover over a
barbeque fire is the only way to cook. They can be used to cook
almost anything, from usual barbeque fare such as sausages,
steaks and so on. While the food may not be especially healthy
to eat, it does taste wonderful.
When using a barbeque based outdoor grill, throwing some herbs
such as sage onto the coals during cooking will give extra
flavor, and also make the smell of the actual coals burning much
more pleasant too.
The other kind of outdoor grill does not subject the food to a
direct flame, and sits on top of gas jets. The plates of metal
upon which the food is cooked, and again it is best suited to
meats, resemble those that you might find in a sandwich toaster.
This kind of indirect cooking is probably a healthier way to
cook the food, and will almost certainly get the food cooked
more quickly, but the lack of charcoal taste means that it does
not have that typical barbeque flavor.
