water purifier
For safety sake take a water purifier with you
on your travels
The body is over 70% water, and
most know that we need approximately 64 ounces of water daily.
Some households even install a water purifier or a magnetising
system for all household water (to reduce lime scale build up, and
to filter chlorine or other elements). Many people are not aware
that it is recommended that every household keeps a three day
supply of drinking water on hand for emergencies. Since treated
water can be stored for up to 6 months, there’s no need to be
caught off guard – especially since the alternative is to join
everyone else dashing to buy clean water and a water purifier when
life takes an unexpected turn.
Over 90% of the world’s water is
contaminated in some way, so unless you in the Artic regions,
you’ll want to be careful about drinking any fresh water you come
across. For those going camping, hydration systems help ensure you
get enough to drink while you are on the move. Dehydration is a
real concern for those that enjoy being out of doors – so it’s
wise to check the available safe sources before you go. A simple
water purifier will help avoid any problems drinking “fresh” water
you find along the way.
The most “natural” water purifier
is to simply boil your water for 10 minutes. If this isn’t an
option, there are a range of tablets and liquid drops which will
do the job – read the instructions carefully because most require
standing for a period of time before drinking, and some require
boiled water. Some people prefer using a Vitamin C tablet
instead of the alternatives – at least to keep stored household
water pure. There are also a range of light weight portable
mechanical filters available that can be considered for hiking.
When you’re head for the back of beyond, just pack what you need
in the emergency kit – making sure it’s “fresh” too.
