tarps
Tarps – handy to have, easy to
use
Tarps, whether they are vinyl,
poly or cotton have a variety of uses around the house and
virtually any outdoor pursuit. Many come with grommets built in
the corners and at points around the edge enabling you to secure
it safely. Tarps are useful for many jobs, from refuse collection
to securing items in the back of a truck or on top of a car, and
they fold up for easy storage between jobs.
Campers use tarps for both
weather protection as well as under tents. Used under integral
tent ground sheets they reduce the wear and tear on the ground
sheet which extends the life of your tent and provide additional
damp proofing. Set up beside the tent, they can provide additional
living comfort and protection from the elements – be it wind, rain
or blazing sun.
At some point or another, a tarp
which can double as a rain canopy is very handy, so look for tarps
with taped and sealed seams to avoid leaks. Even as simply a
windbreak or to provide additional privacy, they are a very
versatile piece of equipment to have on hand. With the wide range
of colors available, you can either choose to stand out from the
crowd or blend into the environment.
Tarps also make an ideal
emergency shelter – so make sure you put one in your pack when you
set off on your adventures. Many come with their own storage bag,
so you can simply bag it back up again when you want to move on or
return home.
